Charity Dinner Fondazione Veronesi
The annual Charity Dinner of the Umberto Veronesi Foundation, Como Delegation, represents one of the most important institutional events of the year and a moment of meeting with companies and supporters who have chosen to believe in the values that inspire the Foundation.
The funds raised during this evening will be allocated to scientific research on pediatric tumors and, in particular, will contribute to the financing of PALM Research Project® (Pediatric Acute Leukemia of Myeloid origin), i.e. an international network of institutes specialized in the oncohematological field which aims to the development of new diagnostic methods for acute myeloid leukemia affecting children.
Every year around 250 thousand children in the world get cancer. In Italy, there are more than 1,400 new cancer diagnoses in children up to 14 years of age and 800 in adolescents between 15 and 19 years of age. Over the last forty years, research has made it possible to significantly increase recoveries, even reaching 90% for some forms of leukemia. A lot has been done, but not enough. For this reason, the Veronesi Foundation is committed to supporting scientific research and the best treatments for children and young people with cancer, to improve the life expectancy and quality of these young patients.
